Knowledge Rooted in Real Experience
Hi! I am so excited to meet you. I’d like to tell you a but about me. I have about ten years of experience in the counseling industry. I started out as a solo practitioner doing pro-bono work and made my way into owning a group practice 1 week before COVID struck the United States. Crazy!
Before I was a counselor I was a stay at home mom with my two boys who have grown faster than I ever imagined. Before that, I worked in the insurance industry doing customer service and policy sales. I started answering phones at our family insurance agency that was the biggest in the country at the age of 14 years old in order to earn money for my first cell phone. The experience in sales and customer service sets me apart from much of the professional counseling community.
Being a group practice owner was something I became very passionate about early in my career because of the sub-par supervision that was available to me. My life long goal has been to create a nurturing environment for counselors to grow and learn in. I have been surprised about all of the unexpected lessons in life and business that have come my way in the years of developing the group practice I now own, Greenway Therapy.
There are so many employment laws and other regulations I never dreamt of. No one sits you down and gives you a handbook on this stuff, nor does anyone care; until they do. Building employee manuals and hosting leadership meetings have been the most enriching undertakings of my life, aside from managing the roles of being a parent and wife. I have been through hell and back but find it all to be part of the adventure.
I have learned so much clinically and in business over the years that it would be a shame not to share it with the professional community. There is a massive lack of professionals (lawyers, clinicians, coaches, etc) that have a deep understanding of the counseling industry. Our profession is truly still in its infancy, guidance from those who have gone down the rabbit hole, beyond simple clinical practice, are vital to the continuation of the counseling professions evolution, so Jamie Morgan and I teamed up in order to, hopefully, make your journey that much easier.
